W. Mitch Yung operates a full-time ceramic studio in
Branson, Missouri. He builds on a body of knowledge earned at Kansas State
University (BFA 1989) and Arizona State University (MFA 1991). He has extensive
practical experience working with various clay bodies (stoneware, white and red
earthenware and porcelains) and firing techniques (reduction firing, including
salt and wood firing and oxidation). His current body of work focuses on merging
the worlds of 2-dimensional figurative drawing and 3-dimensional clay.
Sculpture, vessels, wall plates and other forms show the possible relationships
that can exist between these two media.
